A Scrapbook Page a Day During the Month of May: No. 7

WOOT! WOOT! It's FRIIIIIDAY, folks!!! The layout that I'm sharing with you today has a LOT of fussy-cutting...but the end result was so worth the time put into all of the cutting, don't you think? The stamped images and paper are from Close to My Heart...one of my favorite CTMH stamps is the stitch stamp. I love adding it to layouts, cards, etc.! After I stamp the stitches, I like to use my paper piercing tool to add "stitch holes" to make the stitching look more realistic. It's the simple little details like stitch holes, fussy cutting and the like that can take a layout from good to great!

A Scrapbook Page a Day During the Month of May: No. 6

Hi, friends! Today's featured layout is a Christmas layout...yes, I know it's only May! ;) The stockings that are "hanging" at the top of this layout came from a sheet of patterned scrapbook paper. I simply cut out 3 different stockings, added our names to the stocking cuffs with letter stickers, and then attached them to the page using 3-D dots to give them a little extra dimension. I strung red and white yarn across the top of the page to hang the stockings from, and then added a button to each end of the yarn.

Cutting out specific elements from a piece of patterned paper is a great way to get more bang-for-your-scrapbooking-buck!

A Scrapbook Page a Day During the Month of May: No. 5

Happy "hump day"...we're half-way to the weekend! Today's layout highlights my son's 8th grade fall and spring school photos. If you are a mom like me, one of the things that I am sure you ask yourself often is "where does the time go?" when looking back on photos of your kiddos! It's hard to believe that these photos were taken over 10 years ago...where DOES the time go?!?!?! :)

A Scrapbook Page a Day During the Month of May: No. 4

Good morning! Since today is my birthday, I thought I'd share another birthday scrapbook page with you. This layout incorporates papers and stamps from Close to My Heart. (They always have the coolest stamps!)

 

I am looking forward to this evening...my sweet son Justin is coming over and he and my hubby are cooking dinner for me! They are going to grill steak, chicken and shrimp kabobs, along with mushrooms and yellow squash...yummy! There's no one else that I'd rather spend my birthday with than my sweet son and husband...they are my heart! Tomorrow evening my pals Jamie and Megan are treating me to dinner at Olive Garden, which is one of my very favorite places to eat! It will be a fun girl's evening and I'm really looking forward to hanging out with them!

A Scrapbook Page a Day During the Month of May: No. 3

Happy Monday, friends! I hope that you had a nice, relaxing weekend. Mike and I spent some time working in the yard, and I finally got caught up on laundry and housework...the ironing still needs to be done, but hey, slow and steady wins the race, eh??

Since I will be celebrating a birthday this week, (#47!), I decided that posting birthday scrapbook pages today and tomorrow would be fitting. The page that I'm sharing with you today commemorates my 40th birthday....so hard to believe that 7 years has passed since then! I can remember my dad always saying that "time speeds up as we get older", and the older that I get, the more I realize how right his statement is!

A Scrapbook Page a Day During the Month of May: No. 2

Happy Friday! Today's scrapbook page is titled "It's All About Family". This page has some extra texture from the elements that I incorporated. I stamped part of the title on a piece of twill that I knotted and then attached a tag and heart charm to. I used a metal rimmed tag, that I tore the paper out of, to highlight the word "family". Other textures include fibers, brads, a silk flower, mesh and a button:

A Scrapbook Page a Day for the Month of May: No.1

Hi, friends! Today begins a month long journey where I'll be sharing "A Scrapbook Page A Day for the Month of May" with you. Each week day this month I'll post a new scrapbook page from my albums. (Saturday and Sunday will still have their normal features; "Silly Saturday" and "Quote Sunday".)

Alrighty, let's get started! As a mom, I have always loved taking photographs of my son Justin. As all mom's know, when our kiddos reach the teen years they are usually less than thrilled about having their photo taken...unless it's taken with something that they LOVE!

When Justin turned 16 he had a truck that he and his dad had worked on over the course of a couple of years to ready it for him to drive. They replaced the motor and did some other mechanical work on it so that it was running good-as-new by the time that Justin got his driver's license. To celebrate this milestone birthday - turning 16 - I took Justin out to a nearby pasture with his truck and I was able to get some remarkable photos of him. He was happy to pose for me, because in most of the photos he was "sharing the stage" with something that he loved...the truck that he and his dad had spent so many hours on.

The photo that is highlighted on this scrapbook page is one of my favorites from this day with Justin. Although his red Chevy truck isn't in this photograph, this photo is just so "Justin"...bright blue eyes, wind-tussled hair, Carhart jacket and blue jeans. I actually created an entire album from the photos that I took that day, (I'll share that album with you on another day), but here's my favorite that I had enlarged to an 8" x 10" size to really shine on this simple layout:

So, in a nutshell, if you've got a kiddo that doesn't like and/or refuses to let you photograph them, consider asking them to pose for you with something that they love. Be it a vehicle, a computer, books, a pet...you get the idea...photographing them with an object helps them to loosen up, feel more comfortable and takes some of the stiffness out of the photo session.
