My First Easel Card for My Friend Cristi's Birthday

Today is my dear friend Cristi's birthday...HAPPY BIRTHDAY, CRISTI!! Below you'll see the card that I made for her, which is my first attempt at an easel card. It was really fun to make, and I love how it turned out, so you'll be seeing more easel cards from me in the future - LOL!

Here are the various views of the card...first is how it looks in "display mode":

The next view is the inside of the card. The quote reads, "Those who bring sunshine into the lives of others cannot keep it from themselves." This quote is so fitting for Cristi! She and I have been friends since grade school, and once you've met her you quickly realize that she is one of the most "sunshiney" people you'll ever know! She is a joy to be around and I am so blessed that she's been a part of my life for so many years!

Here's a close-up view of the cover...the bottom sunflower holds the card closed by securing the cover flap:

Here's a side view...the scallop trim above the quote is what holds the card front in place when folded like an easel:

Since I wanted my easel card to fit into a 7" x 7" envelope, here are the dimensions and scoring details that I came up with for this card...

Begin by trimming a piece of 12" x 12" cream colored cardstock to measure 12" x 6 3/4". On the long side of the cardstock score at 6 3/4" and 9" as shown in this photo:

Fold your card on the score lines so that it looks like this:

Now the fun begins! I cut a piece of kraft colored cardstock to measure 6 3/4" x 5 1/4", and then decorated it as shown in the photos above. I then applied adhesive to the bottom easel flap; lined up the bottom of my decorated cardstock with the bottom of the easel flap, and attached the decorated cardstock to the easel flap. Next I decorated the inside to coordinate with the cover, as shown in the photos above. Using 3-D dots, I adhered a double layer of the scalloped trim to the top of the quote block so the front of the card would be held up when opened and put on display.

Here's a final look at the finished card...I thought it would look cute sitting on Cristi's desk. :)

Have a WONDERFUL weekend!!
