Jingle Christmas Accordion Album

Last year, (before I began the Scrappin' Becky B. blog), I taught a class on how to make this super cute 9" x 9" interactive accordion album:

So, just in time for you to create to display your cherished Christmas photos, I'm going to share the instructions with you so you too can make one of these festive cuties! (By the way...these make FABULOUS gifts for grandparents!!)

Album Cover:

Begin with a 9" x 9" CTMH accordion album. Cut the following:
  • NOTE: All of the decorative paper that I used is from the CTMH Jingle paper collection
  • 6"x 9" piece of striped paper
  • 3" x 9" piece of decorative paper
  • 4" x 6" piece of CTMH Creme' Brulee' cardstock
  • 3 1/2" x 5 1/2" piece of white cardstock
Adhere the 6" x 9" piece of striped paper to the left side of the album cover, allowing about 1/8" of the white border around the edge of the album to show. Adhere the 3" x 9" piece of decorative paper to the right side of the album cover, slightly overlapping the striped paper that you've already ahdered. (Be sure to leave about a 1/8" border of the white album cover showing on that side as well!) Adhere the 3 1/2" x 5 1/2" piece of white cardstock to the center of the 4" x 6" piece of creme' brulee' cardstock and set aside.

Stamp the following images:
  • Stocking from the CTMH "Stocking Style" stamp set
    • Using tulip ink stamp stocking on colonial white cardstock, cut out and set aside
    • Using bamboo ink, stamp the cuff of the stocking on colonial white cardstock, sponge stamped cuff image with bamboo ink, cut out and set aside
    • Using New England ivy ink, stamp holly leaves and stocking heel and toe images on colonial white cardstock, cut out and set aside
  • Using chocolate ink and the CTMH "Simple Stitches" stamp set, stamp a zig-zag stitch pattern around the layered white/creme' brulee' cardstock as shown in photo above
  • Using New England ivy ink, stamp the word "celebrate" from the CTMH "Card Contemporary" stamp set vertically on the right side of the white cardstock that you've adhered to the creme' brulee' cardstock
  • Poke "stitch holes" along your zig-zag stamped images using a paper piercing tool. Repeat along the stitch lines of the stamped stocking image. This little technique really adds a nice touch of detail to stamped images with stitching!
  • Adhere the creme' brulee'/white layered cardstock to the cover, slighly off center
  • Referring to the photo above, adhere the components of the stocking together. Using 3-D dots adhere the stocking as shown to the white cardstock. Add 3 red sparkles to the holly leaf element to represent holly berries
Ribbon Detail:
Cut 3 - 3" pieces of ribbon. Tie each one in a simple knot and trim the ends as desired. Using a glue dot on the back of each of the ribbon knots, adhere to the left side of the album cover as shown in the photo above.

Page 1:
Cut the following:
  • 1 - 9" x 9" piece of decorative paper
  • 1 - 2" x 9" piece of striped paper
  • 1 - 7" x 7" piece of white cardstock
Adhere the 9" x 9" piece of decorative paper to the inside cover of the album. Using juniper ink and the star border stamp from the CTMH "Holiday Jingle" stamp set, stamp a border pattern around the outer edge of the 7" x 7"piece of white cardstock. Adhere the white cardstock over the center of the decorative paper. Adhere the striped paper about 1 3/4" from the bottom of the album.

Stamp the following images:
  • One "HO HO HO" image, (from the CTMH "Holiday Jingle" stamp set), on white cardstock using juniper ink
  • One "HO HO HO" image on white cardstock using tulip ink
Cut out the juniper "HO HO HO" image and set aside. Cut out the ornament part of the tulip stamped "HO HO HO" image. Using a scrap piece of striped paper, adhere scrap to center of ornament image. Adhere ornament image over juniper ornament image using a 3-D dot. Cut a piece of silver and white ribbon trim about 4 1/2" long. Using glue dots attach to "HO HO HO" image, (forming loops a the top of ornament as shown in photo above), and tucking end of ribbon trim under the top of the image. Using 3-D dots, apply "HO HO HO" image to striped paper as shown in photo.

Page 2:

Cut the following:
  • 1 - 9" x 6" piece of tulip cardstock
  • 1 - 9" x 3 1/2" piece of juniper cardstock
  • 1 - 9" x 1" piece of white cardstock...punch one edge with a decorative border punch
  • 1 - 3" x 6" piece of white cardstock (for tag)
  • 1 - 1 7/8" scallop punch from polka-dot paper
Adhere the 9" x 3 1/2" piece of juniper cardstock to the top of the page. To form the red pocket of the page, adhere the white cardstock punched border to the top of the 9 " x 6" piece of tulip cardstock. Place adhesive on the bottom and 2 sides of the tulip cardstock. (Don't put adhesive on the top...the part with the white punched border...or you won't have a pocket for your tag!) Adhere the tulip cardstock to the page, slightly overlapping the juniper cardstock, as shown above. Photographs can be added to the top of the pocket page.

To create the tag:

Trim the edges of the 3" x 6" piece of white cardstock to form a tag shape. Fold the polka-dot punched scallop shape in half. Adhere the scallop to the center of the top of the tag and punch a hole through all of the layers. Cut a 4" piece of white rick rack and run it through the hole in the tag. Cut a 3" piece of coordinating polka-dot ribbon and tie it around the rick rack at the top of the tag. Trim the ends of the ribbon as desired and slide the tag into the pocket you've created on your page.

Stamp the following images:
  • One "Jingle" word image, (from the CTMH "Holiday Jingle" stamp set"), using tulip ink on white cardstock
  • One "Jingle" work image using chocolate ink on creme' brulee' cardstock
Cut out the tulip "Jingle" image and set aside. Cut out only the bell image on the creme' brulee' "Jingle" image. Cut a scrap piece of striped paper and adhere to the bell image as shown in photo above. Using a 3-D dot, apply cut out bell image over the tulip bell image on the word "Jingle". Using 3-D dots adhere the word "Jingle" to the upper right corner of the page.

Page 3 - Interactive "Gift Package":

Cut the following:
  • 1 - 9" x 1" strip of tulip cardstock - punch one edge with a border punch
  • 2 - 3" x 3" squares of juniper cardstock
  • 1 - 4" x 4" square of striped paper (for package base)
  • 1 - 4 1/2" x 1" piece of polka-dot paper (for package lid)
  • 1 - 4 1/2" x 1" piece of white cardstock (to make the package lid stiffer)
  • 1 - 4" x 1" strip of tulip cardstock
  • 1 - 2 1/2" x 4" piece of white cardstock (for tag)
  • 1 - 2 1/2" x 1" strip of tulip cardstock, with one edge punched with a border punch (for tag)
Attach the 9" x 1" border punched strip of tulip cardstock to the top of the page. Measure about 1" down from the tulip border and using juniper ink stamp the word "Wish" from the CTMH "Card Commentary" stamp set.

Cut 4 - 2 1/2" pieces of red grosgrain ribbon. Place the ribbon on the corners of the 2 pieces of 3" x 3" squares of juniper cardstock, and adhere to the backsides only with glue dots. (By not attaching the front of the ribbon to the front of the cardstock you'll be able to cut your photographs to size and slide them under the ribbons, applying just a little adhesive under the center of your photographs.) Attach the juniper cardstock squares to the right side of the page as shown in the photo above.

Creating the interactive gift package:

To form the package base, adhere the 4" x 1" strip of tulip cardstock to the center of the 4" x 4" piece of striped paper and set aside. To form the moveable package lid begin by adhering the 4 1/2" x 1" strip of polka-dot paper to the corresponding piece of white cardstock. (This step makes the lid stronger and easier to work with). Place a white brad through the lower left corner of the 4 1/2" x 1" strip of polka-dot paper. Now attach the brad to the upper left corner of the striped package base, as shown in the photos above. Add additional brads to the package lid as a decorative element. Place adhesive on the backside of the package base - on the bottom and sides only to form a pocket - and attach to the left side of the page as shown above. To form the tag that goes inside the gift package, adhere the 2 1/2" x 1" strip of tulip cardstock, (that you've pre-punched one edge with a border punch), to the top of the 2 1/2" x 4" piece of white cardstock. Slide tag into the gift package. To create the bow on top of the package, I cut a piece of red ruffly ribbon about 7" long. I crafted a bow by forming loops with the ribbon and securing with glue dots. I then adhered the bow to the package lid with additional glue dots.

Page 4:

Cut the following:
  • 1 - 6" x 9" piece of decorative paper
  • 1 - 3" x 9" piece of tulip cardstock
  • 2 - 2" x 3" pieces of white cardstock (for journaling tags)
  • 2 - 1 7/8" punched scallops from polka-dot paper
Begin by attaching the 6" x 9" piece of decorative paper to the left side of the album page. Next, using a paper piercing tool, punch 9 holes, 1" apart, down the left side of the 3" x 9" strip of tulip cardstock. Place brads through the holes as a decorative element. Adhere strip of cardstock to the right side of album page, slightly overlapping the decorative paper that you've already attached. Fold the polka-dot punched scallops in half and adhere to the top of the 2 - 2" x 3" white cardstock tags. Adhere the tags to the tulip cardstock as shown in photo. Cut two, 3" pieces of juniper grosgrain ribbon, tie knots in the centers, trim ends, and attach to the top of the scallops on the tags.

Stamp the following images:
  • One "NOEL" word, (from the CTMH "Holiday Jingle" stamp set), using juniper ink on white cardstock
  • One "NOEL" word using New England ivy ink on tulip cardstock
Cut out the juniper "NOEL" image, (be sure to cut out the inside portion of the "o"!), and set aside. Cut out only the gift package image from the tulip "NOEL" image. Using a 3-D dot, attach the tulip gift image over the top of the juniper gift image on the "NOEL" word. Cut a 3" long piece of coordinating polka-dot ribbon and carefully tie through the "o" in the word "NOEL". Trim ends as desired. Using 3-D dots, attach "NOEL" between tags on tulip strip as shown in photo above.

Back Cover:

Sorry, I don't have a photo of this...but it's nothing fancy! I just cut a 9" x 9" piece of decorative Jingle paper and adhered it to the back cover. I plan to put an 8" x 8" family photo on this page!

Page 5 - Interactive Flip-Flap Album Page:

Cut the following:

For page base:
  • 1 - 9" x 9" piece of polka-dot paper
  • 3 - 1" x 3 1/2" strips of juniper cardstock (for journaling tags)
  • 3 - 1/2" x 3" strips of white cardstock (for journaling tags)
Adhere the 9" x 9" piece of polka-dot paper to the album page. Create the journaling tags by adhering the white strips to the juniper strips. Place a brad on the left side of each tag and attach to the polka-dot paper, in a staggered fashion, as shown in the photo above.

Creating the flip-flap album:

You'll need 2 CTMH Flip-Flaps for this page element. Cut the following:
  • 2  -7" x 4 1/2" pieces of white cardstock
  • 1 - 6 1/2" x 4" piece of striped paper
  • 1 - 3 1/2" x 6" piece of juniper cardstock
  • 1 - 3" x 3" piece of tulip cardstock
  • 1 - 1" x 3" piece of white cardstock, with one side punched with a border punch
  • 10" long piece of 1" wide red satin ribbon
To form the cover of your mini-album page element, sponge juniper ink around the edges of one of the 7" x 4 1/2" pieces of white cardstock. Adhere the striped paper to the center of the sponged white cardstock.  Score 1/2" in from the left side. (This will allow your mini-album to open and close easily). Adhere the juniper cardstock, tulip cardstock, and 1" x 3" border punched white cardstock to striped paper on cover as shown in photo above. Adhere 2 flip-flaps to the second piece of 7" x 4 1/2" piece of white cardstock, (which is the base to your mini-album). Lay the mini-album cover on top, aligning the edges, and using a Crop-a-Dile punch 2 holes, spaced 2" apart, centered on the left side of the mini-album. Run a piece of 10" long x 1" wide piece of red satin ribbon through the holes, tie in a decorative knot, and trim ends as desired. Using Terrifically Tacky Tape, adhere the mini album to the album page as shown above.

Stamp the following images:
  • One word "JOY", (from the CTMH "Holiday Jingle" stamp set), using tulip ink on white cardstock. Cut out image and set aside.
  • Several snowflake images, from CTMH stamp sets of your choice, using tulip ink on white cardstock. Cut out images and set aside.
Using photo above as an example, attach your cut out images with 3-D dots.

Page 6:

Cut the following:
  • 1 - 9" x 9" piece of decorative paper
  • 1 - 9" x 2" piece of striped paper
  • 1 - 5" x 7" piece of white cardstock
  • 2 - 2 1/2" long pieces of ribbon
Adhere the 9" x 9" piece of decorative paper to the album page. Attach the 9" x 2" piece of striped paper to the left side, (about 1 1/2" in from the left edge), as shown in photo. Using glue dots, adhere the ribbon to the corners of the cardstock, applying the glue dots to the backside only. (By not applying glue dots to the front of the cardstock, you'll be able to slide your photo under the ribbon corners and attach your photo with a little adhesive applied to the center only of your photo). Randomly attach buttons to the page as a decorative element.

Viola`!!  Your little Christmas album is now finished and ready for your fun and festive photos of the season!

Blessings,
Photobucket
