Wedding Memory Box

Hi, friends! I hope that you had a super weekend! Mike and I spent Saturday with our son Justin; Mike's sis Sandy and her hubs Don; his dad Logan and our niece Kari. They hadn't yet seen the house that Justin bought back in November, so we all met for lunch and then went to his place for a wonderful visit. :)

Today I thought I'd share with you the wedding memory box that my sweet friend Sarah P. commissioned me to make for her friend who recently got married. I used a crinkly white paper for the background, as I love the texture that it brought to the design. I covered a wooden "letter B" with patterned paper, tied a bow using gray lace, and attached a heart shaped lock to the bow. I attached the coordinating key to the lock on the invitation for a little added detail. Across the bottom of the layout I incorporated additional gray lace and a rhinestone buckle for a little extra pizazz. I purchased a coordinating, adhesive backed frame to place over their engagement photo that I cut into an oval shape to fit into the opening of the frame. I really love how it all came together:

Thanks for dropping by today! I hope you have a FANTASTIC week!!

Change is Good!

Every once in a great while an opportunity for growth presents itself - usually when we least expect it! With that being said, as of this month I retired from working in public education. I have thoroughly enjoyed the years I have worked in education, and I treasure all of the friendships that I have made along the way.

Last week I began a new adventure as an administrative assistant for the corporate office that owns the Los Cabos and Waterfront Grill restaurants. Although it feels a little strange going to work someplace other than a school, my new job is a fun change of pace for me and I look forward to learning new things and taking on different challenges as I start the next chapter of my life.

Here's a quick peek at the front of the office building where I now go to work each day:

Thanks for letting me share my exciting news with you today! Never be afraid of learning something new or taking on a new challenge...with change comes the blessing of growth and wisdom! :)

Have a SUPER day!

Dorm Room Accessories

Good morning, folks! Well, last week got away from me and I didn't get a second post typed up to show you the dorm room accessories that I made for Kennedie - sorry! Anyhoo, the comforter that Kennedie got for her dorm room is a yellow and gray chevron print, so I found the following fabrics to go with that color scheme:

I created a cute, oblong pillow for her bed. (The fabric on the back of the pillow is black and white gingham.) The yellow tie in the middle has black pom-poms stitched to the ends for a little extra embellishment:

There was enough of the the floral print fabric left over to make a dry erase board for her to jot down messages, homework assignments, etc. Using a spray adhesive, I attached the fabric to a piece of cardboard that I cut to fit inside of the frame. Kennedie can write on the glass front using a dry erase marker that I tied to the hanger on the back of the frame:

As you can see, I glued a large black pom-pom to the end of the dry erase marker, which will serve as an eraser to remove the ink from the glass.

Thanks for dropping by today!

Sympathy Card

Good morning, friends! I hope that you had a fantastic Father's Day weekend! We enjoyed a quiet weekend at home. Justin came over yesterday and brought our favorite meals from Olive Garden. We watched an old John Candy movie, "The Great Outdoors", and then ate some of the chocolate cake that I baked for Mike. A perfect day! :)

Today's crafty post shows a pretty sympathy card that I recently made. I really love the little bird, which I punched out of cardstock using the SU bird punch. The rest of the paper is from CTMH, as well as the swirl and sentiment stamps.

Be sure to drop back by my blog in a couple of days to see the cute dorm room accessories that I made for my "adopted niece" Kennedie. (She'll be heading off to the University of Oklahoma in a couple of months and I'm so proud of her!)

Have a SUPER week!
