Recipe of the Week...."Beer Bread"

I admit that I am a TOTAL carb addict! I LOVE breads, pastas, and potatoes! I have to really limit what I eat, though, or I put on the pounds - ouch! (Thankfully I also LOVE fresh fruits and veggies, so I do eat lots and lots of those!!)

Since fall and cooler weather have arrived I thought a good and easy bread recipe would be in order. (I'm talking seriously easy...it only has 4 ingredients and no rising time!) What's better than a crisp fall day, a bowl of soup, and a loaf of homemade bread?!?! That combination is a little slice of heaven for me!

INGREDIENTS:
  • 3 Tablespoons sugar
  • 3 cups self-rising flour
  • 8 ounces room temperature beer
  • 3 Tablespoons melted butter
METHOD:
Mix all ingredients together in a large mixing bowl. Pour into a greased loaf pan and bake at 350 degrees for 50 - 60 minutes, or until a cake tester inserted in the middle comes out clean. Turn loaf out of pan onto a cooling rack immediately and brush top with melted butter. Let cool before slicing. Store unused portions in a Zip-loc bag.

This is really good toasted and drizzled with honey for breakfast, and is also a terrific companion to potato soup....which is a recipe that I'll be sharing with you soon!

ENJOY!!
