Recipe of the Week...Phyllis' Pirate Stew

My good friend and co-worker, Phyllis, made this incredibly delicious stew for one of our office luncheons a while back. (Thanks, Phyllis, for sharing the recipe with me!!! You're the BEST!) It's so yummy that you'll go back for seconds! Served up with cornbread muffins this stew is just spicy enough to warm you up on a cold winter's day.

Here's Phyllis' recipe:

Ingredients:
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 2 cans original Ranch Style beans
  • 2 cans Progresso Minestrone soup
  • 1 can original Rotel
  • 1 jar Cheez Whiz
Method:
Brown ground beef and rinse under hot water to remove any fat. Place meat in large pot and add cans of beans, soup, and Rotel. Bring to a boil. Add Cheez Whiz, (to put the fat back in - ha! ha!), and stir until blended. Ladle into bowls and enjoy!

NOTE: I make this in my crockpot and warm up/melt the Cheez Whiz in the microwave before adding it to the other ingredients, stirring to blend everything together. I cook it on low for 6 - 8 hours so that it's ready when I get home from work!

Enjoy!!

  4. That sounds really good. Tell me, do you/your family eat cabbage? If so, I'd love to share one very similar to this...called Cabbage Patch Stew. I assure you, no dolls are injured during the making of this soup. But, if you don't like cabbage...well, never mind! =) Thanks for sharing this recipe! --Margo
