Happy Birthday Card For My Hubby

Happy Friday, friends! Tomorrow my sweet and handsome hubby celebrates birthday number 49!

Our plans are to meet a friend in Owasso for dinner, so it should be a fun evening! Here's the birthday card that I made for him...I had a piece of scrapbook paper that had the number 49 on it, so I highlighted that number with the frame from a tag. (I tore the paper part out of the metal rimmed tag, which created the perfect size frame to highlight the number.) I tied some jute twine to the left side of the frame, added a strip of corrugated sage cardstock, a knotted piece of grosgrain ribbon, and a few other accents to create the perfect, masculine, "Birthday 49" card for him:

We're hoping for a cooler weekend, with maybe a little rain, which would be so nice! Have a fun and restful weekend!

Blessings,

Bible Journaling...

Good morning! It's Wednesday, and that means that we're half-way to the weekend! :)

I am so enjoying the Stephanie Ackerman's "Documented Faith" online Bible study/Bible journaling class, so I thought that I would share the latest verses that I've been working on:

First off is "Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds" from Hebrews 10:24 (NIV):

Next is from 1 John 1:7 Be if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin" (ESV):

And last, is one of my favorite verses "Be still and know that I am God" (ESV) from Psalm 46:10:

Colorado Vacation Photos...

Good morning and happy Monday, friends! Mike and I were on vacation in beautiful Colorado last week, so we head back to work today. (How is it that a week on vacation can go by so quickly, but a week at work goes by so slowly??) Anyhoo, before I head out the door I wanted to share a quick post of our vacation photos.

First off, we were very blessed to be able to stay in a cabin belonging to our friends, the Volentine family. Their lovely mountain home rests on 78 acres that backs up to a national forest in the Sangre de Christo mountains. Mike and I had the cabin to ourselves for the whole week, and it was soooo relaxing!

This is one of the beautiful views from the cabin:

We decided that we should probably take a "selfie", so we would have a least one photo of the two of us together while we were on vacation - ha! ha! Here we are standing on the back porch at the cabin:

While we were heading town on Monday to pick up a few groceries, we spotted some antelope in one of the fields in the valley:

The closest town to the cabin is Westcliffe, and it has a population of only 565 people. It's a cute little town, with a grocery store and a few shops along Main Street...

The day that we went into town was a little cloudy and overcast, and we got a nice little rain shower while running our errands. Here's a photo of one of the pretty little churches in Westcliffe...I just love how quaint it is!

One of the little cottages that sits on Main Street had this sign in the front yard, and I just had to take a photo of it! I love the message it conveys...so much truth in so few words! (Think good, happy, positive thoughts, friends!!)

When we got back to the cabin I made a big batch of spaghetti with hot rolls...soooo yummy! The next morning I took this photo from one of the front windows at the cabin...it's the fog rolling into the valley between the mountains:

A young buck mule deer and doe crossed the driveway right in front of the cabin...they were a pleasant sight to see!

During one of our hikes, I snapped a couple of photos of the stream that runs behind the cabin. Although the temperatures got down into the 40's each evening, we enjoyed sleeping with the windows open to listen to the flowing water from the stream...such restful sleep!

Here are some of the beautiful wildflowers that were growing near the cabin...

I love all of the pine and aspen trees and the sound that they make with the breeze blowing through them! Here's a photo that I took through a clearing along the path near the cabin...

My sweetie picked some pretty wildflowers for me, and we found this heart-shaped rock while out on a walk one afternoon:

Thanks from dropping by my blog today to check out my vacation photos. Have a TERRIFIC week!

Bible Journaling

Good morning! I hope that you are having a spectacular week! Today I thought that I would share my latest Bible journaling entries with you...

First off is 1 Thessalonians 4:11 - 12 "...aspire to live quietly, and to mind your own affairs, and to work with your hands, as we instructed you, so that you may walk properly before outsiders and be dependent on no one."

The next verse Psalm 139: 14 "I praise you for I am fearfully and wonderfully made."

And last, but not least, is the verse from Revelation 22:3 - 5 "No longer will there be anything accursed, but the throne of God and the Lamb will be in it, and his servants will worship him. They will see his face and his name will be on their foreheads. And the night will be no more. They will need no light of lamp or sun, for the Lord God will be their light, and they will reign forever and ever."

Thanks for dropping by today! :)

Sweet Baby Girl Collage Shadow Box and Card

Hi, friends!! My sweet hubby and I are on vacation this week - WOOHOO!! - so I'll share vacation pics with you next week! For now, though, I wanted to show you the baby girl shadow box that I made for my sweet friend Diana P., who was blessed with her very first grandchild last month! Her oldest son and daughter-in-law had a precious baby girl, so I wanted to create something special for Diana to commemorate this wonderful occasion:

To protect their privacy, I blurred out the birth stats on this post, so that is why the words on the tag are un-readable. Here are a few close-up shots of the embellishments so that you can see their detail:

I incorporated a gold key, along with some strips of lace, a scrap of burlap, flat-backed pearls and a sweet little paper rose to highlight the word LEGACY and it's definition. I also incorporated a pretty little cameo-style "W" embellishment, since the baby's name is Wynnerie:

The tag that I used for the "stats" was aged by soaking it in a mixture of coffee, cinnamon and vanilla. I typed up the information on Word on my computer, and then attached the tag to a full-sized piece of paper and ran it through my printer. I added a piece of paper doily to the bottom of the tag, along with some flat-backed pearls. I added some sweet baby pink organza ribbon, a sage green ribbon, and layered it on top of a piece of burlap and an aged/distressed paper doily:

Here's another cute little paper rose that I placed on top of a pretty sage ribbon bow:

The background paper is a beautiful floral piece that I picked up at Hobby Lobby. I added 3 rows of lovely, polka-dot ruffled ribbon to the top of the collage...something about those ruffles remind me of the cute little ruffled diaper covers that baby girls wear...ADORBS!! :)

I also made a coordinating card to go with the shadow box, incorporating some of the same papers and elements such as burlap, paper roses/doily, organza ribbon, etc.:

I mailed the gift to Diana, who lives in Georgia, and she received it on Friday. Here's a photo of her with the shadow box and card...isn't she just so pretty!! I am truly blessed to have her as a friend! We've been friends since 8th grade, and although we haven't seen each other in years, we've always stayed in touch through letters, Facebook, etc. Long-time friends are such a wonderful gift! :)

Thanks for dropping by today! Have a WONDERFUL week!!

Blessings,

Happy Birthday to My Sis-In-Law Sandy...

Hi, folks! Today my super sweet sis-in-law Sandy celebrates a birthday, so I wanted to send her a BIG HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHOUT OUT!! Sandy is an amazing Godly woman who is good and kind through and through, and everyone that knows her absolutely adores her! I am truly blessed to have her as my sister! (I hope you're having a wonderful day, sis...love you bunches!!)

Here's a photo of the personalized card that I made for her, which incorporates pretty little scraps of trim, an aged paper doily and words that describe what an truly lovely person that she is:

I really love how this card turned out...all of the layers and textures add lots of dimension and character!

Have a blessed day,

Bible Journaling Art

Good morning! I recently signed up for Stephanie Ackerman's online Bible Journaling class, and I have really been enjoying incorporating artwork with the scripture of the week that she shares with us. Today I thought that I would share with you a few of the journaling pages I've created in my Bible...

First off is Matthew 5:8: "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God."

The next entry is from Romans 15:13: "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope."

My next entry is Philippians 4:13: "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."

For Psalm 84:5, "Blessed are those whose strength is in you", I simply used the word BLESSED for my journaling:

Since summer is here to stay for a while, I couldn't help but draw some cute flip-flops to go along with the verse from Psalm 71:16: "I walk in the strength of the Lord God. I tell everyone that You alone are just and good."

For 1 Chronicles 16:41, "Seek the Lord and His strength; seek His presence continually", I drew some fun/funky cat-eye glasses...mainly because for me to seek anything these days I have to wear my bifocals - ha! ha! ;)

I have to admit that I was a bit intimidated to draw in my Bible, and although some people use watercolors for their Bible artwork, I haven't gotten that brave yet! Instead, I use colored pencils, and I have been quite pleased with the results.

Thanks so much for dropping by today!! I hope you have a FANTASTIC week!!
